Since the birth of our twins last year, my husband and I have come to rely on Instacart for regular grocery delivery. I used to make several trips to the grocery store per week to ensure fresh food in the house at all times, and Instacarts service has allowed us to keep up this supply while maintaining our babies nap/feed schedules. For this opportunity, it has worked well.
However, the quality of service weve received has been spotty at best. Orders are frequently incorrect, and on a few occasions our groceries have been delivered to the wrong address. Customer service representatives are very slow to respond when something has gone wrong. Separately, the interface does not work smoothly for users.
Recently, we have begun to encounter serious problems with the freshness of the food being delivered. More than half the time, the fresh greens and/or milk that we receive has spoiled by the time it reaches us. Often, a delivery window will not be available until several hours from my order time -- but I will receive a message from our shopper regarding replacements, etc. *immediately* after Ive placed the order. This leads me to believe that the food is sitting in someones car for several hours before it reaches us. This is unsanitary and completely unprofessional, as it poses serious health risks to customers.
Its a good concept, but by no means do they run a tight ship.
